THE SCIENCE DAMITH HERATH University of Canberra,Collaborative Robotics Lab, HCT Research Centre Damith explores the nuanced interactions between humans and robots. Within the last decade, the field of robotics and Artificial Intelligence has advanced considerably allowing a new generation of robots to evolve called collaborative robots (co-bots). Unlike previous generation industrial robots, co-bots allow close interactions with humans. This ability to 'work together' opens up a brave new world of possibilities which, until now been science fiction. Essentially, multidisciplinary in nature, Damith's work bring together, artists, psychologists, roboticists, ethicists and many other experts to develop new understandings, algorithms and paradigms on how to advance the field of human centred robotics.
THE ART SASKIA MORRIS ANU School of Art and Design Saskia’s design explores how advanced interactions between robots and humans have opened up the field of robotics for cutting-edge collaborations between roboticists and artists. By bringing these two fields together, roboticists and artists highlight and experiment with our experience of technology not as a threat but as an integrated part of our everyday lived experience.
