OUR STORY
We are on a mission to rid the world of pun-filled science shirts! Sorry no periodic table elements here.
Shirty Science uses cross-disciplinary collaboration to create awesome (if we don't say so ourselves) science shirts that spark conversation about the amazing research going on around us.
We are also a social enterprise, using shirts to to disrupt the dude in a lab coat scientist stereotype, increase the reach of Australian research and facilitate lasting creative collaborations.
Established in 2016 by science communicator and do-er of things, Madi Hartill-Law, Shirty Science has worked with over hundred scientists and artists facilitating the creation of 60+ unique shirt designs with world-wide sales.

OUR PROCESS
HELLO!
We reach out to scientists and artists and say hello.
We are always on the look out for wide range of individuals who are disrupting stereotypes, creating amazing things and open to collaborative processes.
If you are interested in being involved in the Shirty Science process get in contact
MATCH YOU UP
Nothing says collaboration like speed dating!
We hold a workshop to let all our scientists and artists get to know each other, giving them 3 minutes to pitch themselves to one another.
Then through the power of mathematics we match them up.
CREATE THE THING
Our pairs then go off and collaborate. The aim is to work together to create a shirt design that sparks a conversation about the scientists research .
PUT IT ON A SHIRT
We then put our artist and scientists design on a shirt and pop it on our website to sell.
No design is off limits! If you can print it on a piece of paper you can print it on a shirt, thanks to wonders of Direct to Garment printing (also no stock waste as we print on demand YAY!).
DONATE THE DOLLARS
We donate all our profits to organisations that supports diversity and inclusion in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM).
Previous donations have been to Deadly Science.
OUR COLLABORATORS
As well as scientists, we also enjoy collaborating with a range of organisations. Got an idea? Say hello!
