Are you our next communication side-kick?

Shirty Science is currently a one-person show (hello!) BUT I am looking for someone with communication and social media know how to help make this National Science Week event the biggest and best yet!

Thanks to grant funding this is a paid opportunity (more details in The Logistics section)

I am looking for someone to help create and implement a communication strategy to ensure our National Science Week event, The Most Excellent Science Shirt, reaches and engages a wide and new audience.

I am super open to your ideas, but the strategy might include:

  • Creating engaging and creative posts about our scientists, artists and their shirt designs for Shirty Science’s Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn.

  • Developing and running paid social media advertising campaigns.

  • Writing a media release and reaching out to journalists to report on shirts.

  • Producing a media kit and reach out to various organisations to help promote the event.

  • Writing newsletter content to engage our existing audience.

  • A t-shirt canon… why not?

About you

You love science t-shirts! (not really a requirement) BUT you do think science is pretty cool and love to talk about it with your friends.

You might be a science student who has taken some sci comm units? A communications student interested in science? A person looking to build their portfolio?

You are looking for an opportunity to be creative, independent and test out new ideas, concepts and communication techniques.

Ideally you know your way around the social medias and have an idea about how the algorithms work.

The logistics

Rate = $40/hour PLUS a Shirty Science shirt or two of your choice.

7hrs a week for 12 weeks June – September.

You would need to have your own ABN and would invoice Shirty Science for your time.

This is a remote role, though if based in Melbourne there is an opportunity for in-person catch ups.

Interested? Send me an email at hello@shirtyscience.com with your resume and a short statement (200 words max) on why you are interested in the role by 5pm AEST Thursday 8th June.
