High Speed Vehicles illustrates how we are trying to understand how hot vehicles get when travelling at more than 4,700 km/hr (or 4+ times the speed of sound) and how this changes air flow around the vehicle. 
THE SCIENCE | BIANCA CAPRA

Bianca is a aerospace engineer. Her research focuses on better understanding how hot vehicles get when travelling at more than 4,700 km/hr (or 4+ times the speed of sound), how the vehicle structure can withstand these high temperatures, which are typically over 1000° C, and how the hot surface of the vehicle changes the air flow in and around vehicles and this ultimately effects their performance.

If stuff gets to over 1000° C when travelling at more than 4,700 km/hr...how does it stay together and not melt or break apart during flight? Bianca mentioned conceptual and complex models and the Navier-Stokes equations, describing the motion of viscous fluid substances. It sounded pretty important when you’re studying how an ultra hot surface changes the air flow in and around it. This design is inspired by this viscous fluid flow of air and associated heat and interaction with high speed vehicles.
