Team Darkstar explores how light would rotate around a black hole in a five dimensional universe.

THE SCIENCE | MARK BUGDEN

Mark's research is based around trying to find a unified theory of fundamental physics - a theory which would describe how the universe behaves on the most fundamental level. The most promising candidate for such a theory (String Theory) implies that the universe has extra dimensions of space, and Mark wants to understand how gravity works in higher dimensions. This project studies how light would rotate around a black hole in a five dimensional universe.
THE ART | PAUL SUMMERFIELD

Paul has tried to capture Mark’s research into fifth dimensional light orbits, by depicting some of these dimensions as the sides of a cube. These slices of light when put together create a wondrous, complex, and currently unimaginable 5th dimension light orbits. Light orbiting black holes has been recently depicted in films, but at this point it’s anybody's guess as to what they actually look like. And that is absolutely fascinating.

  • OUR SHIRTS

    To minimise our enviromental impact our shirts are printed on demand with water-based inks and are shipped in home-compostable packaging (yay compost!).

    You can return your shirt up to 30 days after purchase. Simply send the product back to us in the condition it was received for a new size or store credit.
