Team Electrons highlights how computational chemistry is use to solve quantum mechanical equations on computers to describe how these electrons dance.

THE SCIENCE | SIMON MCKENZIE

Understanding the behaviour of chemical molecules is crucial to our everyday lives: whether it be medicinal drugs interacting with our bodies, catalysts improving the efficiency of industrial reactions or materials making the next generation electronic devices. All this behaviour boils down to tiny subatomic particles called electrons dancing all around these molecules. Simon’s field, Computational Chemistry, solves Quantum Mechanical equations on computers to describe how these electrons dance. Shown on the shirt is the intricate dance of one of the electrons in a water molecule.
THE ART | HANNAH HOOGE

Eleanor’s arts practice aligns with science, in that she is interested in unfolding stories of advanced knowledge within the complexity of scientific information. Eleanor completed her PhD at the National Centre for the Public Awareness of Science (CPAS), ANU and has just spent two years working in Taiwan as a Professor in Technology and Arts.  Having had personal experiences of earthquakes in Taiwan, collaborating with Marija was a great coincidence and an opportunity to find out more about earthquake research. The design reflects the seismic waves travelling through the earth as energy source, particularly noting technological data and algorithmic code, as the hidden aspects of innovative mapping and location tools.

    Our shirts are made from a mid weight, 180 GSM, 100% combed cotton (aka a great shirt). They are also preshrunk to minimise shrinkage (phew).

    Shirts are sourced through AS Colour as they have high quality products and transparent ethical processes, see here.

    To minimise our enviromental impact our shirts are printed on demand with water-based inks and are shipped in home-compostable packaging (yay compost!).

    You can return your shirt up to 30 days after purchase. Simply send the product back to us in the condition it was received for a new size or store credit.
